Our adventure on the farm: A family holiday that inspires 🌾🐄

Hello, my name is Birgit and I am part of the team at bauernhofurlaub.info ( Ibex Web GmbH ). In this blog post I would like to tell you about our unforgettable farm holiday.

When you see so many beautiful farms every day, it's only a matter of time before you feel the desire to experience such a holiday yourself. And that's exactly what we did! Here I'll give you an insight into our experiences on our holiday farm and share tips with you for the perfect stay on a farm. 🌟

The decision: Where should we go? 🤔

Our search began with the questions: Where should our farm holiday take us? What should we pack? What opportunities does a farm offer for children? Can you really relax there?

It was clear to us that it should be a farm nearby - ideally in the mountains, as we like hiking. We also wanted a playground for our children and a holiday apartment with breakfast so that we didn't have to worry about food in the morning. So we set our filter settings on the "bauernhofurlaub.info" portal to area, vacation in the mountains and certified family farm and quickly found what we were looking for. 🏔️

We quickly found our favorite: the Tofererhof in Bad Hofgastein . The vacation farm fulfilled all our wishes and also offered numerous leisure activities. At the beginning of August we set off. 🚗

Arrival and first impressions 🏡

After a 1 1/2 hour drive we reached the Tofererhof and were warmly welcomed by Kathrin and her three children. Our children, aged 8 and 6, were immediately excited by the large playground right outside the door and the many vehicles around the farm. 🛝🚜

After we moved into our cozy holiday apartment, we received valuable tips on how to best move around the farm and how to deal with the animals. Here is a brief summary for you:

• Do not be loud or make sudden movements near animals. 🐑
• Don't chase animals because it's funny when they run away. 🐔
• Feeding is only allowed if the farmer is present or allows it. 🍽️
• If animals are sleeping, please do not disturb them. 💤
• Be careful around running machines and vehicles, always keep your distance. 🚜
• Please do not climb on machines or enter animal pens without permission. ⚠️

Even though the cows were on their own mountain pasture ( Gadaunerer Hochalm ), the ponies, rabbits and chickens were more than exciting for our children. Luckily we had packed our rubber boots for the wild exploration tours around the farm. 👢🐴

Hiking and enjoying nature 🏞️

The next morning we set off for the Gadaunerer Hochalm, thanks to Kathrin's tips it was the best decision for a wonderful family hike. The breathtaking mountain landscape and the opportunity to visit the missing farm residents on the mountain pasture were unforgettable. After a delicious breakfast with the farm's own bread, jam, butter and coffee , we mastered a longer mountain tour in no time - a real adventure! 🥪🏔️

Back on the farm 🐥

Our children were looking forward to returning to the farm to continue playing and exploring. The Gastein Valley has so many attractions to offer that we didn't get bored for the rest of the days. There are many different hiking options for young and old, for beginners and climbers. You can relax in the surrounding thermal baths or leisure pools . The Gastein waterfall, the landmark of Bad Gastein, is particularly impressive. We also really liked Sportgastein with its picturesque Alps, extensive hiking trails and incredibly beautiful landscape. 🌊🏔️

Conclusion: An unforgettable holiday 🌟

Looking back, it was one of the best holidays in Salzburg that we have ever experienced. The short drive, the enjoyment of homemade delicacies from the region, adventures on the farm for the children, surrounding leisure activities and the warm hospitality at the Tofererhof made this holiday perfect for our family.

Our children had so many wonderful experiences and gained an insight into local agriculture. We parents were also able to relax and are already planning our next farm holiday in a beautiful ski resort . ❄️⛷️
