Imagine: Your children run barefoot across lush alpine meadows, pet Noriker horses, and bake their own pizza in the wood-fired oven in the evening. Meanwhile, you enjoy the view of the main Alpine ridge while your dog dozes beside you in the grass. That's exactly what a summer holiday at the Hasenau farm in Hinterglemm feels like: authentic, vibrant, and full of unforgettable moments.
The Hasenau holiday farm is located directly next to the Reiterkogelbahn cable car in the heart of the Saalbach-Hinterglemm hiking paradise. Nestled between the festival city of Salzburg and the main Alpine ridge, you'll experience an authentic farm holiday here, complete with a diverse animal population, a creative children's program, and crystal-clear mountain air. Host Pamela Hasenauer and her family run the farm with heartfelt dedication and have created a summer program that delights families, nature lovers, and active holidaymakers alike.
Noriker horses: Majestic farm animals from our own breeding program
The heart of the Hasenau holiday estate is its Noriker horses. These powerful, gentle draft horses are bred on the estate and represent several generations of the same dam line. From the oldest farm horse to the youngest foal, you can get to know a real horse family here.
Several times a week, we hold horse afternoons where your children can groom, brush, lead, and of course, ride the Noriker horses. These calm, experienced horses are perfect for beginners and children. Here, you'll not only get to know the animals but also learn fascinating facts about the history of this Alpine breed and its importance to the mountain farm.

35 Tauernschecken goats and the alpine breakfast with a view
If you think goats are just cute, then you haven't met the 35 Tauernschecken goats at the Hasenau holiday farm. This rare Austrian breed of goat is curious, playful, and provides plenty of entertainment on the farm. It gets especially exciting in the summer when the mothers are grazing on the Ossmannalm alpine pasture.
Once a week, the legendary goat breakfast on the alpine pasture is on the agenda. You travel together to the pasture, enjoy breakfast with fresh farm products and a breathtaking mountain panorama, and get up close to the goats. Petting, feeding, watching them frolic, and enjoying the fresh alpine air: a real highlight for families with children.
Mini pigs, milking cows, and the colorful farm community
Besides horses and goats, many other animals live at the Hasenau holiday farm: six curious miniature pigs that love to root in the earth and laze in the sun; Pinzgau cattle and Tyrolean Grey cattle that graze on the alpine pastures in summer; rabbits, chickens, geese, sheep, and cats complete the animal community on the farm.
Once a week, you can even join the trip to the alpine pasture and help with milking the cows. Your children will learn firsthand where our food comes from, can lend a hand, and experience species-appropriate animal husbandry in the mountains. The fresh mountain milk tastes twice as good at breakfast the next morning.

Creative program for children: From longboards to pizza night
The summer children's program at Feriengut Hasenau runs from May to the end of September and offers a varied program of activities every week. Your children can design their own longboard or skateboard, create their own phone cases and phone chains, or let their imaginations run wild with T-shirt printing.
But there's also plenty of action: archery, a family Olympics, water polo on warm days, a hobby horse tournament with an awards ceremony, and an escape room with tricky puzzles. At pizza night, you bake your favorite pizza together in the wood-fired oven, during the treasure hunt you solve riddles all over the farm, and the slightly different kind of memory game really gets everyone moving.
It's also exciting from a culinary perspective: Your children can make fresh cheese, bake farmhouse bread, and playfully learn how delicious food is created from farm products. They can then proudly take their homemade bread home or enjoy it right away with homemade cheese.
Hiking paradise with Joker Card: Mountain experiences included
The Hasenau holiday estate is located directly next to the Reiterkogelbahn cable car in the heart of the Saalbach-Hinterglemm hiking area. With the Joker Card, which you receive as a guest, many mountain lifts, experiences, and attractions in the region are free. The cable car whisks you up to the top in just a few minutes, where numerous hiking trails await you.
Especially exciting for families: Montelino's Adventure Trail, a fantastic hiking path designed specifically for children, where they help the clown Montelino find his toys. Along the way, riddles, play stations, and little surprises await. For older children and teenagers, there's Mount Kodok, an adventurous puzzle trail all about the goblin Kodok.
Mountain bike enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy on the Z-Line at the Zwölferkogel: a spectacular freeride trail with North Shore elements, also suitable for ambitious beginners. Rental bikes and protective gear are available directly at the valley station.
Wellness after a day in the mountains: sauna, whirlpool and relaxation
After an active day in the mountains, the cozy wellness area at the Hasenau holiday estate awaits you. Relax your muscles in the sauna, unwind in the whirlpool, and recharge in the infrared cabin. While the children play on the playground, you can enjoy the peace and quiet and the mountain views.
The 12 newly renovated apartments accommodate 2 to 8 people and are furnished with great attention to detail in an alpine style. From the balcony or terrace, you can enjoy views of the valley, the mountains, or the riding arena. Each apartment is spacious and fully equipped, so you'll feel right at home.
Holiday with your dog: Four-legged friends are very welcome
At the Hasenau holiday farm, dogs are not only allowed, but warmly welcomed. Your four-legged friend can join you on hikes, sniff around the farm, and meet the many animal residents. For an extra €10 per night, your dog can stay overnight in the apartment. The expansive meadows surrounding the farm offer plenty of space to run and play.
Excursion destinations around the Hasenau holiday estate
The location between the main Alpine ridge and the festival city of Salzburg makes the Hasenau holiday estate the perfect starting point for exciting excursions:

Zieglinde's tip for your summer vacation
Baa! I'm Zieglinde, and let me tell you something: Breakfast on the mountain pasture with my fellow goats is absolutely fantastic! But shhh, it's best to come early in the morning when the air is still fresh and the mountains are sparkling in the sun. And don't forget to bring some treats – we goats are easily bribed! 😉
Oh yes, and if your kids are designing longboards, let them be creative. The best memories are made when you're allowed to just do things. Just like here on our farm!
