Bonner Höhenweg and Toblacher Pfannhorn

Ascent: From St. Magdalena (1398 m) on the road briefly into the valley, then to the right over the stream and always the Mark. 48 (freight road) through the Köfler Valley up to the southeast; At a split in the path with various signposts, turn right and follow marker 48 (also a forest path) through the forest up to the Tscharniet-Alm (1976 m). Then continue following marker 48B southeast up to the path split. Now on the Verseller Steig on the east side of the ridge in a largely level crossing of steep grassy slopes well south to the Pfanntörl (depression between Gaishörndl and Pfannhorn, 2511 m) and left over the northwest ridge of the Pfannhorn on a small path up to the summit (2663 m; here orientation boards) ; – Descent: From the summit, first as in the ascent back to the Pfanntörl and along the path on the east side of the Gaishörndl on trail 8, crossing the steep slopes northwards to the Gruberlenke (small saddle, 2487 m); now crossing over to the west side and following trail 44, first in serpentines over rugged, steep terrain and then over alpine slopes down to the Versellalm (at a height of 1942 m the Tolder Alm, a little lower the Hinterschuherhütte, both with a bar), then always on the wide goods path ( Mark. 44) through the Verselltal and finally through steep forest down to St. Martin (1276 m).

Hochkreuzspitze, a challenging summit hike

From the St. Magdalena valley end hut follow marker 12, continue to follow the marker on the ridge, northwest up to the Hochkreuzspitze (2739 m); Descent from the Hochkreuzspitze: Back to the Pfoischarte and then always to Mark. 12A over the southern ridge to the Uwaldalm (2042 m, bar) and on path 12 to the starting point.

Hörneckele and Almweg 2000 with a view of the Dolomites

From the valley road near St. Martin (1276 m) follow marker 36 on the west side up to the Karbacher Hof (1440 m, refreshment stop; you can also get here by car) and from there in the lonely Karbachtal along the rushing stream to the forest path that branches off to the right the mark 52; Now on the forest path southwest through the steep forest slopes up into a small alpine valley (approx. 1800 m), then on trail 52 past hay huts over the Vigein mountain meadows up to a small ridge depression (approx. 2100 m) and briefly right up to the cross the Hörneckele (2127 m); the height difference is 851 m; The worthwhile hike is easy and problem-free for hikers who are used to walking. – Almweg 2000: From Hörneckele via the “Almweg 2000” (marked by a red dot) crossing the Alpine slopes northeastwards to the split of the actual Almweg 2000, leaving on the valley side in a partly flat, partly very slightly descending slope crossing to the Pfinnalm (2152 m) then to the Aschtalm (1950 m; refreshment stop); from here finally on trail 10 through the forest slopes on footpaths and forest paths down to the hamlet of Huiben and to St. Magdalena parish church (1398 m). From St. Magdalena by bus or other transport back to St. Martin.

Schwarzsee, mountain tour to the highest Villgraten

Directions: From St. Magdalena (valley end hut 1465 m; large parking lot and refreshment stop) turn right over the Talbach and follow marker 12 always through the Pfoital up to the tree line; Now continue straight ahead up the valley to the Pfoialm (2134 m), through the Almtal on a good path uphill to the path split, turn right here, follow marker 13 steeply up into the Hintere Gsieser Lenke (2539 m, also called “Inneres Schartl”) and Beyond on the path in a few minutes down to the lake (2455 m). The tour is not difficult and worthwhile for hikers who are somewhat used to the mountains. – Descent: via the ascent route.

Riepenspitze

From St. Magdalena Talflusshütte on trail 12 (Bonner Höhenweg) and on trails branching off from this (marked) southwards over stony grassy terrain and finally over rocks up to Riepenspitze (2774 m); Descent: From the summit of the Mark. 47, first briefly on the sharp northwest ridge, then on the steep western flank and finally across alpine pastures down to Stumpfalm (2000 m, bar) and continuing with Mark. 47 via the forest path in sweeping serpentines through beautiful forests to the valley end hut and to St. Magdalena.
