Farm holiday at the Schleibachhof
Long ago, nawu apartments was just a farm. At some point, we thought that this place was too spectacular not to let other people – our guests – stay here and share this magic.
Today, the Schleibachhof, which is the common name of nawu apartments, is home to the Haflinger mare Mississippi, the Fjord horse Sternthaler, the Shetty pony Lucy and mini pony Sternenstaub.
The incredibly funny Cameroon sheep girls, Elsa and her daughter Freya, are sure to bring a smile to the heart of every animal lover. The rabbits have plenty of space and enjoy eating dandelion leaves.
A huge aviary with canaries transforms the barn into a natural concert hall. The "clucking" of our chickens occasionally drowns out the singing.
We gladly accept help with the daily stable work.
A particular highlight for the children is riding along on the tractor. Seeing that joyful expression on the children's faces is simply beautiful. Traditionally, hay is harvested from flower meadows and dried in the summer. As a member business of "Holiday on the Farm", you will enjoy certified holiday quality. Our animals are happy and we are convinced that this happiness and well-being is transferred to the visitors. Authentic, nature-based experiences on the farm.
Heimo, our boss, will gladly explain and show you everything about it.
We live and breathe nature and agriculture.
We make juice from the grapes grown on the farm. The homemade fruit brandy has almost become a well-kept secret. Our orchard with its apple and pear trees is the basic product for our apple juice and cider. Good, old varieties. Unsprayed and untreated. A true gem and health elixir for the body. Everything from collecting to pressing and bottling is done at the Schleibach farm. You must taste the juice as it flows directly from the press, before it is pasteurized. A unique taste experience. Then there are the colorful cherry trees, raspberries and blackberries. This magnificent fruit will also end up on your plate. If they make it that far. 😉
Part of our adventure meadow, which is a few minutes' stroll from the farm, is slowly becoming a species-rich flower meadow. Wooden loungers are located in the middle. Following the motto: "A bed in a flower field, the grain is available at the bar in the evening," you can relax and unwind there.
This rhythm in the countryside, at nawu apartments – Schleibachhof, has an effect. Even if it's unconscious. The body reacts positively to it.

A special area on our lawn has been prepared for you, and of course you are welcome to bring your dog to the restaurant.
Directly from the nawu apartments you can go to the exercise area in the forest and meadow. So much to sniff, so many animal sounds. Butterflies frolic in the snow in summer and in the snow in winter. Many four-legged friends love the water. Wauzi gets his money's worth in nawu-Land. The many streams with their large and small pools and ponds practically invite you to enjoy this element. The Gail River is just a short walk away. Perfect.
Even his friends find their own quiet spot to linger.

nawu's farm shop is not just a shop. Like nawu apartments itself, it stands for "that little bit more". Local specialties from hand-picked producers. A coffee-to-go machine (each apartment also has a fully equipped kitchen with a filter coffee machine) and freshly delivered rolls or bread from the local baker...the day can begin, then the fresh cake in the afternoon...mmmh. Everything you need is here. You can also find souvenirs and gifts there, useful items for everyday needs, and most certainly a friendly smile.
The opening hours are generous. Even if it's not always a "corner shop", you can find time for shopping around the clock via self-service and payment. Ganz nawu – feel free, the new lightness of being – do it if you want to.

Having a restaurant right in the nawu apartments is certainly convenient. And such a good one at that. The view during dinner was magnificent. The selection of dishes and meals is well thought out. From simple and delicious snacks, to local specialties and gourmet dinners of the highest standard, nawu's Restaurant will surprise your palate.
Even allergies and certain food intolerances do not spoil the culinary pleasure.
We find most of the ingredients for these culinary delights from local producers. Well-maintained, friendly and good service make the visit a holiday pleasure.

Our apartments are furnished with care and are child-friendly. The entrance to the ski arena begins directly in front of the nawu front door. Either take the public ski bus or your private car to the Millenium Express gondola, which is about 4 km away. There is ample free parking at the valley station. There you will also find a rental station, ski school, sports shop and ski service.
Discounted ski passes can be purchased directly at the reception of the nawu Apartments. This saves you from having to queue at the lift ticket office. As our guest, you also receive discounts at ski schools, rentals, and ski service. A tip: There is a good ski service on the mountain that will get your equipment in shape in a short time and at a reasonable price.
At nawu Apartments we have a heated ski cellar with ski boot dryer. Another option is to have lockers right in the ski area, so you can jet between the nawu and the slopes with ease and in the utmost comfort.

From the top station of the Millennium Express (included in the +Card Holiday) starts a stroller-friendly adventure trail that brings young and old closer to nature at every step. The Aqua Trail is 1.5 kilometers long and passes through the mountains, a lake and numerous adventure stations along its route. Along the way, your children will learn about the element of water in a playful way, devote themselves to dam construction, or examine a real sailboat at 1,900 meters above sea level. But the trail is also suitable for visitors who no longer find the mountain experience so easy. Rest areas and the picnic spot at the reservoir are just two of the highlights of the Aqua Trail. These highlights provide a pure nature experience.

With water temperatures of up to 28°C, the "bathtub of the Gailtal" is one of the warmest lakes in Austria and therefore opens the swimming season in Carinthia early. One reason for the pleasant temperatures is the increased number of hours of sunshine in the region, which invites bathers to soak up the sun on the shore. In addition to its warmth, Lake Pressegger See is particularly attractive for its drinking water quality, which guarantees a bathing holiday in one of the cleanest bodies of water. -
Weissensee
The 11.6 km long Weissensee is located in the middle of a 76 km² landscape and nature reserve, which is why only about a third of the area is built up. The origin of its name "Weissensee" lies in the white edge that can be seen around the almost 23 km long shore. This white shore is created by the almost white limestone deposits on the bottom of the lake, which also give the lake its turquoise blue color. Another special feature of the lake is the different coloring of the water: the western part is less deep than the eastern part - therefore the color of the water towards the west is more emerald green, whereas the color towards the east appears deep blue and turquoise. The depth of the lake is only about 7m in the west, but significantly deeper in the east, up to 99m. An exceptional property of the water from Lake Weissensee is its drinking water quality - this special feature is created by two mountain spring tributaries and several underground springs. In summer the temperature is on average 24 degrees, in winter the lake reliably freezes completely with a 60cm thick layer of ice. This feature makes the lake the largest natural ice surface in Europe in winter, which includes 25km of ice rinks. This reliability and the quality of the ice also prompted the Dutch 11-city tour to move its competition to Weissensee in 1989. Since then, the speed skating marathon has taken place every year in January at Weissensee.

Worthersee
The Wörthersee, occasionally also called Wörther See, is the largest lake in Carinthia and at the same time one of the warmest Alpine lakes due to its climatic location.
He became known for numerous film sets, such as the castle on Lake Wörthersee in Velden.
Bathing fun in the many beach resorts around Lake Wörthersee. Grab an electric boat or enjoy a Lake Wörthersee cruise on the MS Klagenfurt. Go shopping in Klagenfurt, visit Minimundus (the small town on Lake Wörthersee), the Happ reptile zoo, there is so much to see. An important excursion tip from us is the Pyramidenkogel. At 100m the highest observation tower in the world. With a special attraction the 120m long slide.
