Cows & Calves
We have 11 Simmental dairy cows and, depending on the season, 1 to 6 calves. As an active organic dairy farm, they are an integral part of our farm life.
You can join us for milking and feeding and experience daily farm life up close.

Our Shetland ponies
Lilli and her daughter Annabell are especially excited to welcome our little guests. You can meet them, groom them, and take them for a walk.
And if you'd like, you can even try pony riding – we'd be happy to organize it for you.

Our pygmy goats
Mimi and Erich are among the curious residents of our farm. Come and visit, get to know them up close, and spend some time with them.
You're also welcome to join us for feeding time. If you'd like to take the goats for a walk, just let us know – we'd be happy to arrange that for you.

Our pigs
Our two pigs are also an integral part of everyday life on the Forstnighof farm. You can visit them, watch them, and of course, help with feeding.
A little tip: Our pigs also enjoy any leftover food from the holiday apartments.

We have 5 to 10 hens and a rooster that you can watch in their free-range area.
Especially exciting for children: You can collect fresh eggs and discover where your breakfast egg actually comes from. And in the morning, our rooster provides the perfect farm-style wake-up call.

Our two rabbits love visitors of all ages. You can observe them at your leisure and even help with feeding and caring for them.
Our rabbits are a wonderful way for younger children to gently experience farm animals.

We, Monika and Peter, run the Forstnighof together, continuing our family's long tradition. I, Monika, take care of the rentals, while Peter works part-time as a farrier.

Getting to Forstnighof is very straightforward. Simply enter "Matzelsdorf 4, 9872 Millstatt" into your navigation device.
We recommend …
to leave the motorway at the Spittal/Millstätter See junction and drive along Lake Millstatt to Dellach. There you turn uphill and follow the road via Sappl to Matzelsdorf.
Arrived in Matzelsdorf…
You will first drive along a large field on the left-hand side. From here you can already see a large yellow house on the hill with the stable building to the right of it – that is the Forstnighof.
Shortly after, you will reach the campsite on the left. Before the large power pole, turn left into our private driveway, drive past the campsite and follow the road through the meadows all the way to the top. The Forstnighof is the last house at the end of the street.
Arriving at the farm…
Drive between the house and the barn until you reach the high entrance at the back of the barn. From there, a sharp left turn leads up to the guest parking area above the house.
Park
- Please park on the side of the guest terrace or along the wall.
- Keep the passage clear and ensure that other guest vehicles also have enough space.
- The entrance to the holiday apartments is located directly next to the guest terrace.
In winter
In snowy or icy conditions, the incline from the entrance to the campsite can be challenging. In this case, we recommend carrying snow chains.
