Story
In our historically grown market town of St. Wolfgang, the Altroitgut has always been known for its wonderfully quiet location high above the town center with its unique vantage point for locals and guests from all over the world.
In the Salzkammergut on the north bank of the famous Wolfgangsee at the foot of the Schafberg at 620 meters above sea level with a view to the south, the venerable Altroiter Gut, which has existed for over 600 years, looks back on a long history: it was first mentioned in a document in 1416, because it was named for “Anna “The Zauner’s Daughter of Altreut” was built. The Altroit has been owned by the Strobl family for over 200 years.
Hospitality, regionality and sustainability
With the renovation and expansion of our Altroit, we have gained exclusive, traditional, modern chalets, apartments and deluxe double rooms in recent years. We maintain Upper Austrian hospitality - regional sustainable business is our top priority. For us, these values are not just empty phrases; we live these principles in our daily activities.
In our double or single rooms we will spoil you with our breakfast buffet, which includes daily fresh pastries from the St. Wolfgang bakery, ham from our trusted butcher or dairy products from the Salzkammergut. The Altroit is also currently undergoing a change in terms of management: Johann junior, the son of the house, will gradually take over the management of the Altroit and will ensure that our house remains in family ownership in the future.
